Thursday—Be the Message

It’s Thursday! Can you even believe how fast this week is flying by? I’ve spent the week with my sister and we have laughed and laughed and teased each other without mercy! She likes quiet and I love music playing...she likes order and I thrive in the middle of chaos...she is methodical, I am ping-pong balls going in every direction. But somehow, we completely adore each other and believe it or not, in all of our lives we have never really fought. It’s probably because she is such a saint. But I’m not always that good with all of my Christian brothers and sisters—and the apostle Paul admonishes me for that.

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:15-17‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Sing, sing your heart out to God, thanking Him for every step you have. Let Him take control of the house—our Father’s House. Paul continually tells us that we are a colony of believers and that we are to be the message to a broken and dying world. Jesus Christ came and died to redeem the lost. And it is our responsibility to let that light shine through the darkness. You know if we don’t, who will?

It’s very similar to Israel’s story when God redeemed by grace the Children of Israel on Mt Sinaí and God gave then a tassel with a blue thread to remind them. Paul, who was a Jew knowing that story and a follower of Jesus, would not tolerate anything that would compromise that message. In Phillipians he tells us to carry our message as shinning like stars in a crooked and warped world*. He said we simply cannot have dissension among ourselves. It sends the wrong message and frankly wastes energy that we need to be using productively!

*“Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

And, maybe you get along perfectly with everyone of your brothers and sisters in Christ. But most of us have one or two that we always have to pray about. So let’s make Thursday the day we pray for those brothers and sisters that we want to love better. Because more than anything else, we want to BE THE MESSAGE. The right message.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
