It’s Sunday-Relationships

Happy Sunday. I trust you are ready to worship the King of things this Sabbath with a body of believers. Sing praises and earnestly seek His face this day. Work toward a deeper and more meaningful relationship with your Father. Build a stronger connection with Him.

Last night we had dinner with aunts and uncles. We were working on relationships with them—spending time with them. Even through we are related to them, there’s not much of a connection if we never see them or spend time together. Being connected to God is about more than just a union; it’s about communion with Him. When Bob and I got married, it wasn’t long before I began asking, “Who is this guy?” And trust me, I’m sure he was asking, “Who is this girl?” We both realized our marriage was not the fantasy.

Over the next several years, through lots of struggles, we learned that real, lasting relationships take work. We learned that communication is vital. And even if it’s good or bad, we had to be honest about how we felt, and we had to encourage each other even if we didn’t feel like it.

We worked at being connected not just by a marriage license, but by communing with each other and with God in relationship. To be successful in marriage or any other significant relationship, you have to be led by God’s Spirit and not your feelings.

“Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD ’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor GOD with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent GOD ’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that GOD corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-12‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Christianity—a relationship with God—is more than just saying a prayer of commitment. It’s walking with Jesus every day. It is communicating with Him and talking things over with Him—even when we don’t feel like it. We read His Word, we meditate on it—even if we don’t feel like it. Because, Christianity is a love relationship with an awesome God and not some sort of crush that we will burn through like we are 14. It’s the real deal, for the long haul. It’s the life-time kind of love. The kind that you make up your mind and stick to it through thick and thin—even when you don’t “feel” it, but you certainly “know” it! Its an eternal relationship.

Today, let’s just praise the Great Jehovah for having that kind of a relationship with us! Amen?

Love you dear one,

Pam
