It’s Sunday-Her First in Heaven

Happy Sunday! I hope you are as excited as I am about worshiping our Lord and Savior this day. The King deserves the praises of His people, does He not? Praise Jehovah, the Lord God Almighty!

I have a double reason to rejoice today. One of my very favorite people of all time was ushered out of this world and through the gates of pearl night Saturday night. Sister Wilma. This is her very first Sunday in Heaven. She’s strolling down the golden avenue, with mansions left and right and the other saints saying “How do you do Wilma! We are so glad you are here.” I’m so excited for her. And no one was more excited to see her than Bob Hudson. He loved him some Sister Wilma. The Mortuary Mothers are finally reunited (the trio that sang at who know how many funerals in Newton and Barry counties!)

Sister Wilma was 97. She laid down Friday night and went to sleep and woke up walking into heaven. She is now a part of the great cloud of witnesses! Sister Wilma was always quick to help, quick to be positive and look for the good, quick to love those who needed extra love. She worked 30 years past the time when most folks would have retired and she never complained about anything that I knew of. She had troubles like all folks and a few more than lots, but she loved her Jesus and praised Him for the blessings she had. She endured. Now, she has heard “Enter in my good and faithful servant. Great is your reward.” Does it get any better than that?

Sometimes life is not all about fun. Sometimes it’s about enduring and helping and working and simply being good to other folks. It’s about finishing this race well. Everyone who remembers Sister Wilma remembers a mom, a grandma, an aunt or a friend but we all remember a saint of God. Someone we all want to try to be like.

“Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!”  ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-3‬ ‭MSG‬‬

It should give us that shot—just like expresso straight into the blood! Think about that long line that is now cheering for us. Paul, Timothy, Titus, St.Augustine, Martin Luther, Tozier, Spurgen, Sunday, CS Lewis, and now...Sister Wilma. You may or may not have known her while she lived on this planet, but guess what? Now, she’s cheering you on!

Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. The Almighty. Remember who wrote and paid for our faith and let’s make sure we live like we know what the real end game is. The real goal. And what ever you do, don’t forget...you’ve got a whole crowd cheering for you!

Love you dear friend,

Pam
