Monday-Look Up

Happy Monday. I hope you had a good weekend and are ready to start the day.

I talked to my friend Ale in Oaxaca last night. She is a nurse and her husband is a surgical intern. They have been working since the earthquake to help people. Their house lost a wall and people around them lost everything. The hospital where David worked is completely gone and they are treating people and doing surgery in a school that is still intact. Ale said "Please please pray for us and for all the people who are still trapped beneath the ground. Please ask your friends to remember to pray for us."

I saw friends of ours in Florida and North Carolina have been hit by storms. We had friends and family affected by the storm in Texas. And we hear there are more in the works. Wildfires are unmanageable and burning like crazy in Colorado, Montana, Oregon, Idaho and California. Things seem out of control don't they? It seems every year this kind of thing takes on greater and greater proportions.

““And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:25-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Look up. Luke is telling us here that although chaos is all around us, don't focus on it but rather turn your focus to Christ Jesus. He's about to appear and our salvation is near. The attitude Luke uses here is one of excited anticipation and he's telling us to be ready and watching.

I've heard several people talking about what's going on everywhere with fear, doom, and a near desperation. Even Christians who say they anticipate the Lord's return are more excited over and caught up in the tragedies rather than the very real outcome. If we really are looking for it and are excited for it, doesn't that make so much of the world slip into the fog? And how big do our problems seem when we consider Christ could really come at any minute? It makes me a little giddy doesn't it you?

Please pray for all those affected by all the storms, fires and mess and for those in Mexico have lost so many loved ones and more to come. Then, look up. Today, re-read what Luke says and anticipate our Lord's return with joy and gladness.

Have a great day my friend.

Love you,

Pam
